Rain Gardens & Salmon

We had a great crowd come out to listen to the SC Streamkeepers Society first public event last year on July 6,2022! We learned how we can build beautiful gardens for salmon!

If you missed this event we were above to videotape the presentation by Deb Jones, Cougar Creek Streamkeepers, Delta BC.

The video is posted to our Video Page here

This event is very timely as we all have noticed that In recent years water conservation has become more important than ever.

The presenter answered the following questons:

What’s is a rain garden? How can installing a rain gardens help storm water drainage? Where does all the “stormwater runoff” from roads and parking lots (impervious surfaces) go? How does a rain garden help salmon?

This event was made possible from a grant from Neighbourhood Small Grants.

We acknowledge with gratitude that we live on the unceeded land of the shíshálh (Sechelt) and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) peoples.

Thank you to all that attended, all the volunteers that helped make it happen and see you at our next Salmon Information Night!
