WORLD RIVERS DAY – Invasive Plant Removal Event and native plant planting @ ROBERTS CREEK!!

Our report for World Rivers Day last Sunday, September 28, 2025 was awesome! We had a huge group of volunteers that worked for two hours removing ivy and planting native plants! We had every age and we had fun!! 🙂

“World Rivers Day is a celebration of the world’s waterways. It highlights the many values of our rivers, strives to increase public awareness, and encourages the improved stewardship of all rivers around the world.  Rivers in virtually every country face an array of threats, and only through our active involvement can we ensure their health in the years ahead.” – https://worldriversday.com/about/

Please come out to join us as we celebrate our many creeks on the Sunshine Coast and meet some new friends!

Also, it will be spawning season, so you will see spawning salmon too as an added wonderful bonus!

EQUIPMENT NEEDED:
Please bring gloves, eye protection and small and/or large clippers and a watering can too! A small shovel and rake would help too!

WHAT TO WEAR: Please dress for the weather, rain gear (if raining) outdoor/gardening clothes that includes long sleeves, sturdy waterproof boots are a must and a hat is recommended.

DIRECTIONS: *** Please meet us at Pier/Mandala parking lot!***

We look forward to seeing you all there! If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at scstreamkeepers@gmail.com.

Please share events and invite your friends or anyone you think might be interested in helping!

We have a gift in our community, Roberts Creek! It is the 2nd major spawning creeks on the lower Sunshine Coast, let’s do what we can to protect and restore the important salmon habitat and wildlife corridor it provides! The salmon need our help!! #salmonrsacred #motherearth
